Apple MacBook Unibody
Body from a single piece of material
It has been said that it’s actually a white MacBook Pro. One obvious difference is that the white model seems to be for the entry level (MacBook) whereas three aluminum models belong to the series of MacBook Pro. The main body of the laptop is made from a single block of plastic that is 13.3 inches (33.8 cm). This new MacBook has a LCD LED backlight with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. We find similarities between the two machines, such as the anti-glare panel or the wide multi-touch glass that appears on the MacBook; the audio input and output also merge. But the unibody Apple MacBook lacks some some features that MacBook Pro has: the FireWire port, the no memory card reader or backlit keyboard are not available with the white MacBook Pro.
Only two USB ports appear on the side A, the third would have offered the complete package, but Apple hasn’t featured it. We have also noticed the disappearance of the small device indicating the battery charge.
Great autonomy for a notebook
The unibody design is accompanied by the adoption of a fixed battery. Autonomy is remarkable. Although it doesn’t last for the seven hours that Apple has promised, it is consistent with the life duration of the MacBook Pro 13 inch, which means three up to four hours of DVD playback and about five hours of Internet use with brightness at half power.
The white MacBook has the processor Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz, with 2 GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive (both of which can reach up to 4 GB and 500 GB ) and the Nvidia 9400M graphics chip. The specific technical standards fit perfectly with the newly-required office and multimedia use (word processing, web surfing, photo editing). The operating system is Apple Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and in terms of connectivity we notice that the white MacBook has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet settings.
Test and review conclusions
The white Unibody Macbook is thus defined by exceptional design and performance.
The positive points (pros)
Design, performance, silent, touch pad.
The negative points (cons)
Less than 2 USB ports.
