Archos 5
60GB hard drive from Achros
Despite fierce competition, remains the benchmark in Archos media players for video playback. With this series 5, the French manufacturer adds a touch of design. So despite its 60GB hard drive, the Archos 5 displays an hourglass and a moderate weight. The high quality finish is very neat and the buttons disappear in favor of the large 4.8 inch touch screen. The latter has a very high resolution which particularly benefits the pictures. The display is particularly detailed with rich colors and contrast. However, the screen is prone to glare and fingerprints do not help. To enjoy the sound quality of the device, it will change the headphones really disappointing and not worthy of such a player.
Powerful speaker integrated
A powerful speaker is integrated but only delivers highs that do not do justice to the music either. If the browser is finally free, the latest codecs such as H.264 are still paying. Still, the most common formats are natively recognized. The Archos 5 can now download the e-mail via WiFi connection and even content on the Archos Media Club. If transfers are no problem, it deplores the lack of standard USB port to use a proprietary connector to charge the battery and copy files. A second connector is built to change the Archos 5 with optional accessories. It may well turn into a digital recorder or outright in GPS for example.
