Asus Eee Pad EP121

The Asus Eee Pad, two shelves more complete and less expensive than the iPad

When the fifth global manufacturer of laptops decides to diversify, it gives two tablets Eee Pad.

Shelves Pad Eee EP121 and EP101TC are two new creations from Asus. Running on Windows 7 (Home or Mobile), they want to compete with the iPad … On paper, it’s pretty well gone!

After Dell Streak, JooJoo the Fusion Garage, Archos 7 Home Tablet here is the Asus Eee Pad come compete The Apple iPad. Gossips say that Taiwan was not too trampled to find the name. However, Asus is a departure from the Apple brand by offering not one but two models: EP121 and EP101TC with, respectively, a screen of 12 and 10 inches (9.7 inches cons for iPad).

The EP121 is bigger than the iPad!

Although we do not yet know all the technical data for the two Pad Eee presented at Computex 2010, Asus has revealed that the model of 12 inches would benefit from an Intel Core 2 Duo ULV (ultra low voltage) 7 and Windows Home Premium to offer the user both power and flexibility of use. WiFi, 3G, USB and webcam are also present: no compromise on equipment!
And since it seems that the battleground is the preferred builders support for Adobe Flash Player by their shelf, it is obvious that this is not a problem for Eee Pad. Playing videos, listen to music, surf and even use Microsoft Office applications with the touch pad, nothing is sacrificed. However, there is no indication of the capacity of the storage space or nature (soldered memory, SSD …).
Finally, range of accessories, the dock and the physical keyboard are announced … Finally, Asus advance allows 10 hours, which does not mean much if we do not know if it is read video or Flash, or carry out traditional office tasks.

Meego on the menu?

As for the EP101TC, it is probably the true competitor of the iPad, because it displays a screen diagonal quite close to that of the tablet from Apple. With its 10 inch screen, it takes more or less the duties of his sister, except that the operating system (OS) is just the version of Windows Mobile 7.
Of his belly, we do not know much, but his weight of 675 grams, combined with a thickness of only 12.2 millimeters, should be synonymous with Atom or Pentium. However, the common point of these tablets is their compatibility with future Meego, an operating system born from the collaboration between Nokia and Intel.
And if Asus has promised to develop a “Asus AppStore” for the output of both Eee Pad with 2000 applications (in addition to all the possibilities offered by Windows), with Meego, it is possible that Symbian – which is used by mobile devices – are also compatible. A complete ecosystem that is likely to get rich very quickly to counter the tablet of Steve Jobs and solutions Android.

No availability is announced officially, but it seems that Asus wants to leave her two small Eee pad during the first quarter of 2011 in Europe. Prices are between 299 and 399 euros for the 10-inch model and up to 449 euros for the 12 inches. Will be continued!
