Lenovo L2251X
Lenovo released a 22 inch ecological which consumes only 18 watts
The L2251X is clearly advertised as an ecological screen. Come with what weapons it will defend our planet!
This L2251X Lenovo’s main quality turn green. It consumes little energy, is manufactured without mercury and with 30% recycled plastic, and includes a webcam perched on top of its frame.
The expectations
China’s Lenovo is consistent with the current green trend. His latest ThinkVision Monitor comes in eco L2251X hard, doing everything possible to preserve our environment. Mercury, highly toxic metal, and arsenic, are first removed from the component list. A good point. Another argument: 30% of the plastic gear from a recycled resin from ancient everyday consumer products. Other key green, 92% of the packaging of the monitor is composed of recycled plastic. And highlight of the show is announced the consumption between 21 and 28 W only in operation, with a backlight halogen consumption.
The reality
The display quality of the screen is placed in mid table with a first result of very average side response time, measured in our laboratory at 14 ms (the best models are close to a 5 ms round trip white and black). Viewing angles, evaluated at 42 ° horizontally and 49 ° vertically, nothing extraordinary either. The brightness did not exceed 181 cd / m², but with a black deep enough to display a contrast ratio very respectable 1129: 1.
A display very low energy consumption, really green
The very good surprise comes, however, the side of the power consumption, which did not exceed 18.2 W operating in our measurements. A value that proves even less than that announced by Lenovo, and rather impressive for a backlight CCFL type (the good old fluorescent tubes). For example, we measured this model Philips 225P1ES – Said green – 24.8 W, and that other AOC V22 + 27 W despite its LED backlighting. Some other 22 inch models, like the touch T2250MTS-B1 Iiyama even rise to over 41 W. A complete halt as before, the Lenovo model consumes 0.3 W. We would have preferred to obtain a zero value without having to physically unplug the monitor. Note that it is even possible to save a little energy by activating the automatic adjustment of the backlight of the slab according to ambient brightness.
Designed to work
The ergonomics of the setup menu is not obvious, minimized, but without becoming a headache for the user. Note, however, some functions always welcome: a good Integrated webcam (video in 640 x 480 at 30 fps), accompanied by his microphone, and a hub offering two USB ports on the side of the screen. Last nice quality, it is possible to rotate the screen in all directions, including to stretch his foot high enough to place it in portrait mode. Multiple functions, perfect for the office.
Review conclusions
The Lenovo ThinkVision L2251X is well placed to charm a keen user of the least impact on the environment. The low power consumption is impressive, but a weighted average display quality. The desktop user will be satisfied very well indeed, including a 16:10 ratio in 1680 e 1050 for work. This monitor is not recommended for players who want a lower response time and a slab rather full HD 16:9, a format more suited to multimedia.
