Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction on Xbox 360

Very tense, violent, terribly effective, Sam Fisher is justice and saves the world, too. A return almost perfect.

As many say, Sam Fisher and Conviction went ballasted by a heavy burden. A difficult start that saw dramatic shifts in all delayed, then delayed again to “spend a little help to polish. In other words, they were expected and that hopes were high.

For the record, Conviction you back into the muscles of Sam Fisher, the god of infiltration after Double AgentAt the end of which he killed Lambert, his best friend. His daughter, the apple of his eye, is dead. He left Echelon Three. Things did not go well. The story, well done and enjoyable without being exceptional, has its share of twists and installs the flavor of the game, helped by a music well suited.

When Sam dissatisfied Sam pat …
Sam has recovered and is ready to pay any truly responsible for the death of his daughter. Suffice to say that the infiltration an undemanding leaves room for the action / infiltration, even the action itself. There are only a few laser cameras over the tiny ten hours of solo play. Allow eight hours instead of elsewhere.

This shift is felt clearly in the gameplay and the level design. There is even a flashback level in Iraq to Modern Warfare. In broad daylight. Just unthinkable and yet it works. We find to slip cover to cover, car burned in the wall ripped into a cover system that is both thinking Gears only Army of Two.

Predator advanced
Pro infiltration, Sam Fisher goes to Action Man. And he does it with talent. The developers have given it an advantage, and Mark and the Run. Having knocked out or killed an enemy with bare hands, you unlock this feature that allows you to mark one or more enemies (the number being linked to the weapon) and shoot a bullet in the head with a simple Pressing the button Y.

It’s very classy, very cinematic, with a small effect on the last idle headshot. It might be frustrated, but Sam has become nimble enough that we can easily align headshots unattended. Simply knowing how to play with the cover system to remain in the shadows, everything is so black and white, and know how to show sometimes.

Yes to show! When an enemy sees you, a phantom figure of Sam shows your location. This is where the soldiers will converge called in as reinforcements. Feel free to stay for hard-sell your skin or take them back to carnage. You are a predator. Here, we do not try to pass without killing, it is clear the way for revenge. Moreover, we can not even drag the bodies into a corner. And for good reason, there would be too.

Slaughter
In the second part of the game, the targets are increasing dangerously, asking responsiveness and efficiency. Fortunately, we can count on a destructible environment if it is the least destructive. From traditional gas tank through the luster of a ton or jet engine review, everything is good to clean faster. Not to mention the interrogations, which serve the story and during which mauls with professional efficiency enemies. Too bad it only has to press the B button to see Sam take care of the dirty work.

Ultimately, the playability and ergonomics are perfect, a few small bugs around. Like when Sam hidden behind a railing, prefers to put a bullet in the latter than in the head by a guard while the viewfinder is placed on the noggin of the unfortunate, and would eventually die.

Imperfect realization
The realization is very correct, although we regret that the animations are sometimes a bit stiff and the graphics are not more amazing. Only the effects of light, once again, stand out. For the rest, it is clearly below a Assassin’s Creed II.

But the main drawback of ConvictionUndeniably, it’s AI. Sometimes poorly balanced, it opposes effective soldiers when we spotted and identified, because they have the advantage of numbers. Otherwise, if the wicked are concerned when their friend dies from a bullet in the head close to them, they are too slow or too ineffective to prevent us from killing them one by one great big predator accustomed to the darkness.

For a few hours more …
If the solo part is short but intense and exciting multiplayer modes are welcome. Uneven, particularly the Competition mode, we note with pleasure the Hunter Mode, in which infiltration takes over some of its rights, and a clone mode Horde in Gears of War 2Where one must shoot down waves of enemies.

But it is especially the cooperation mode that stands out with its ability to attract attention to yourself to trick the guards to mark targets for their partner or revive it if injured.

This Splinter Cell: Conviction not lacking. Without being perfect, is a winning return. What a pleasure to see Ubisoft taking such a risk with his big licenses – even if the risk is measured as Splinter Cell borrows much Assassin’s Creed. And what a joy to return, finally, Sam Fisher in such great shape!

Positive points

  • Sam is a predator and we feel at every moment
  • The gameplay renewed and effective
  • The intensity of the action
  • Cooperation mode

Negative points

  • The lifetime of the single player mode
  • Achieving
  • The junkies will aback pure infiltration
