Android Apps : A screen spy
BlackHat conference in Las Vegas
During the BlackHat conference in Las Vegas, we learn about the beautiful Android.
The purpose of a screen phone is it to provide data to the mobile application developer ? It is hard to believe but that is what happens with more than 80 Android applications, which collect phone numbers and other personal information, including the IMSI number that identifies the mobile subscriber. Stronger, complained applications transmit data to a server without any encryption.
Informed by the company Lookout discovered these oddities, Google immediately suspended the offending application and stated willingness to conduct further investigation.
All applications – wallpaper – were written by the same developer, jackeey wallpaper. It specifies that the application users can have access to phone data but, as said John Hering of Lookout, most users do not bother to read the documents accompanying the application.
” I do not think consumers realize that personal data are sent to a server, ” he said, noting that the same applications are available on the Apple Store.
More troublesome, Mr. Hering has paved the way information was collected and ensure that they resulted to a server located in San Jose, registered by an owner based in Shenzen, China.
