Firefox 4.0 beta available for testing

The first beta of Firefox 4.0 is now available for download

The Mozilla Foundation is taking a first step before the release of Firefox 4.0. Since July 6, it offers the first public beta of its forthcoming browser for Windows, Mac and Linux. This version represents a major evolution of the browser, recently strained by the rapid evolutions of Chrome, Opera and Safari.


mozilla-firefox-40-betaThe browser is based on its competitors elsewhere, particularly as regards the interface. By default, tabs are placed above the navigation bar, which is reminiscent of Google Chrome. A button Firefox, encompassing the principal functions of the software, and a Bookmark button (as on Chrome again), also appeared. Stability is improved through the implementation of separate plug-ins (Flash, Quicktime, Silverlight) and the function of synchronizing data so far available as an extension to be incorporated into the final version of the browser.

Speed side, we must also expect improvements in JavaScript execution. Mozilla also focuses on support for HTML5 and video format Webm widely adopted by publishers of browser.
