The new Droid 2 available for US citizens
The American division of Motorola launched yesterday its U.S. version of smartpone Droid 2. The device, which integrates the latest version of Android, was first marketed in the United States before joining the European shops. For its part, the Canadian RIM unveiled the BlackBerry Curve 3G.
The Droid 2 shows the physical characteristics of the smartphone Droid that preceded it (known as Milestone in Europe), 3.7-inch touch screen and full keyboard under the sliding screen. But this time it has a 1GHz processor and 8GB of internal memory, expandable to 40 GB via a microSD memory card.
The new star of Motorola smartphone comes with the new version 2.2 of the Android operating system, dubbed “Froyo”, the Flash Player 10.1, and the interface Motorola Blur. The Droid 2 is now available in the U.S. with the Verizon. Marketing in Europe is expected by the end of the year, but the mark has not communicated about it.
This model is regarded as one of the most successful Android smartphone. According to research firm Flurry Analytics, saw U.S. sales start better than the first generation iPhone, with 1,050,000 copies sold after two and a half months, against $ 1 million for the first iPhone .
